The Jet Express Triathlon run course is called the ‘The Great Equalizer’ for good reason. It is hard… for everyone! There is very little change in elevation… but the course moves from a asphalt road very quickly to soft sand, hard sand, woodland trails, cement jetty, more sand, grass fields, more sand, a fire road, and back to asphalt to the finish. It is an adventure run! The 10k run will not be a PR course unless it is your first 10k! It is the kind of course that will challenge you and make you work hard and curse the event directors before you are done. But after you are done, you will have great memories and be very pleased with your efforts to complete the Jet Express Triathlon and can claim in the altered words of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, “I have met the Jet Express Triathlon and made it mine!”
Be it noted that, equal to the difficulty of the run, is the beauty of the run! As you move around East Harbor Sate Park, you will spend most of your run along the shore of Lake Erie moving through many different surroundings and environments. Do not be surprised if you see many different birds or other animals that inhabit this park. Enjoy this park, the outdoor adventure, and the shared experience and camaraderie with your fellow athletes.
If you are doing the duathlon you will run the first half (5k – 8am start and must complete by 9am) of the 10k course, and then the entire 10k course to finish with the triathletes. There will be 6 Aid Stations along the run course. Marshals and arrows will mark the course to keep you on it. You will have until 12:15pm to complete the run. Just be sure to wear your number, in front, on this portion of the event.
